Noah
Meet Noah
Noah is 12, he’s been diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder and severe non-verbal autism. We talked to Noah’s mum, Hayley, to find out more about their journey and how Blade has helped Noah’s confidence grow.
Noah visit us last week, another routine hair appointment. He arrived with his family and jumped into the chair, happy & ready for his 6-week trim. A sight you’d never have believed 6 years ago!
Whilst Caroline continued the appointment in the main salon we slipped into the Sensory Studio to speak to Hayley, Noah’s mum, to hear more about Noah’s journey so far.
“As a child, Noah always had really long hair. He didn’t like sitting in the chair, he wouldn’t sit still, he didn’t like the idea of having his hair cut, he hated people touching his head. The whole thing was traumatic for him, as well as us. So for lots of years he ended up having really long hair.”
Until a friend recommended Blade Salon, a kindness that would change the way Noah felt about haircuts for the better.
“From the second we came, it wasn’t easy by any means, but every time we came it got easier, and easier and easier. Originally, we had to come into the Sensory Studio every time he had his hair done and Caroline pretty much ran around the shop after him, that was how we rolled! Cutting a bit here, cutting a bit there, and he would play with all the bits and pieces.”
Noah visits us every 6 weeks now and he’s gotten so comfortable that he sits in the main salon, in the “big boy chair” and treats us to a big smile every time we get to see him.
“He’s gotten so comfortable with Caroline, she knows exactly what he likes and what he doesn’t like and it’s just easy. Really easy compared to how it used to be, much easier - we love it.”
